Umberto D

Films Inspired by Neorealism
Blue Valentine (2010)
This film was screened in Class. honestly i only bits of it since i was tired. I wanted to watch it but kept on procrastinating so in the end i didn't watch it.  Luckily i watched bicycle thief before.

My thoughts on bicycle thief:
Honestly, I found it  boring. It was shown to us last semester and watching it once was enough. For me it was too draggy. However emotions were delivered though it's a low budget films. Surely having a character where one can relate is a need in films. However this film is amazing because no matter how long it was shown, it is still in history, with many film students watching it. Over all it was a good movie, considering it was a small budget, outdoor shooting and non professional actors.

week 1

WEEK 1

World Cinema

World Cinema is what you call a film or industry of Non-english speaking countries, in English-speaking countries.  World Cinema is defined with artistic value unlike Hollywood who is sometimes defined with commercialism. The term "world" is perceived as a disrespect to them.

There's nothing really I can remember but there was one line that made an impact,
"YOU'RE F*CK*D"
It kind of shocked me since lecturers would always say you might become the next blah blah blah (i couldn't remember what she said) but to me this was like a wake up call saying what's in the future will be a rocky road and will be really difficult to surpass since I really didn't think of the problems I will face. I thought, this will be an easy path to take so i took it but little did I know that it is a bit complicated with all the different types of Cinema. Though I found out that there will be a lesson for Korean cinema which made me excited as well.
